Research - VLM Research Lab

My main research areas are computer vision, machine learning, and data mining. At UTA, I have established the VLM research lab. A large part of my current work focuses on developing general methods for efficient and accurate similarity-based retrieval and classification, with applications in sign language recognition, content-based access in image, video and multimedia databases, and recognition of objects and shapes. ASL dictionary search
The goal of this project is to develop a system that lets users search dictionaries of American Sign Language (ASL), so as to look up the meaning of unknown signs.
Nearest-neighbor retrieval and classification
The datasets we have used for this project can be downloaded from this link. Code for the BoostMap method is freely available upon request (just send me an e-mail).
Detecting shape classes of variable structure in cluttered images
